Tumbleweeds and prairie dogs
Grace and I spent yesterday morning spelunking caves at Carlsbad Caverns… Okay, spelunking is an exaggeration, but we walked and walked and walked 750 feet below the surface to see some spectacular sites.

Sunny New Mexico
We spent about three hours underground lost in the silence of being so far under the earth. Honestly, we could have spent months down there – it was so amazing. But alas, we hit the road again after lunch and headed north through Roswell (which was very disappointing – we both expected a little roadside gas station and souvenir shop run by aliens, but it was just strip malls and Pizza Huts), ending up in Santa Fe just after sunset (an enchanting sunset, btw). Sources tell me that Santa Fe is an amazing place, and so far those sources are correct.

Still have yet to see the stars in all their majesty, but we’ll be in Moab in a couple of days, and Grace has promised (PROMISED!) that we’ll get away from the light pollution to get lost in the cosmos.
Now we’re going to get some tasty breakfast and go shopping. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
